The use of paper cups in beverage packaging

2025-11-08

1. One major function of paper cups is to hold beverages such as carbonated drinks, coffee, milk, cold drinks, etc. This is their basic use.
Beverage paper cups can be divided into two types: cold cups and hot cups. Cold cups are used to hold cold beverages, such as carbonated drinks, iced coffee, etc; Hot cups are used to hold hot beverages such as coffee, black tea, etc.
Distinguishing between cold drink cups and hot drink paper cups, they each have their own functions, and once they are misaligned, they can threaten consumers' health. The surface of cold drink paper cups should be treated with wax spraying or immersion. Because cold drinks can cause water to accumulate on the surface of paper cups, causing them to soften, applying wax can make them waterproof. This wax is very stable and safe between 0-5 ℃. But if it is used to hold hot drinks, as long as the temperature of the beverage exceeds 62 ℃, the wax will melt and the paper cup will absorb water and deform. The melted paraffin will have a high content of impurities, especially the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon organic compounds contained in it, which may cause cancer. If it enters the human body with the beverage, it will harm human health. The surface of hot drink paper cups is covered with a special polyethylene film recognized by the state, which not only has good heat resistance but also is non-toxic when soaked in high-temperature beverages. Paper cups should be stored in a ventilated, cool, dry, and pollution-free space, and the storage period should generally not exceed two years from the date of production.
2. The use of paper cups in advertising and promotion is also used by advertisers or manufacturers as a medium for advertising and promotion.
The pattern designed on the cup body can give people different drinking moods and also serve as a "symbol" for promoting a certain product. Because the trademark, name, manufacturer, distributor, etc. of the product can be designed on the surface of the paper cup. People can learn and understand products from this information when drinking beverages, and paper cups provide a platform for people to learn about these new products.
