Why are paper cups not suitable for drinking alcohol or making tea?

Disposable paper cups have become one of the commonly used items in daily life. We often use paper cups to brew tea and drink alcohol, but gradually people realize that using paper cups to brew tea will greatly reduce the taste and color of the tea, and lower the nutritional value of the tea leaves. Actually, paper cups are not suitable for making tea or drinking alcohol? Why?

The main material of advertising paper cups is wood pulp paper. Qualified paper cups can hold 90 ℃ hot water without any leakage, but when filled with wine, they leak; The main manifestation is the phenomenon of infiltration at the junction of the cup body and the junction of the cup body and the cup bottom, that is, ethanol solution penetrates through the inner layer of the paper cup to the outer layer of the base paper, and ethanol leaks to the outside, even causing cracks in the seams of the paper cup. There is no problem with the bonding process and coating thickness of the paper cup itself. The reason why there is leakage when holding alcoholic beverages is because ethanol is volatile, has strong permeability, and is more easily soluble in the organic solvents used in the paper cup, resulting in leakage.

Here is a reminder that ethanol can dissolve the ink used to print patterns on the surface of paper cups, and the ink contains harmful substances such as benzene, which are likely to be ingested by consumers. It is recommended that consumers do not use disposable paper cups to hold alcohol.

The main reason for the darkening or yellowing of tea color is the oxidation of nutrients such as tea polyphenols in the tea. If tea polyphenols are oxidized, they will directly affect the taste, color, and reduce the nutritional value of tea.
